Since 1972

My father left India when he was just 18 years old. He was forced to leave because his family had a plan that didn’t include him. With no business degree, no formal training, and only the money he had saved, he set out in search of a place where he could build a better life and one day raise a family. After traveling through many countries, he finally arrived in Montreal, Canada.

He began by selling handmade Indian beaded jewelry on the streets of Montreal, saving every penny he earned. Eventually, he saved enough to put down a deposit on a small retail storefront in Old Montreal, which he named “Singh Boutique.” “Singh” is our family’s middle name, and “Boutique” reflected the French-speaking province we lived in. He worked during the day and attended French classes at night. Once he became fluent, he started traveling back and forth between Montreal and India, sourcing high-quality handmade products. Thanks to his dedication, the store soon became a success.

When he felt he was finally ready to start a family, he called his parents and told them it was time for him to get married. He booked a flight to India, had an arranged marriage with my mother, and they have been happily together ever since.

The store my father founded in 1979 is still open today—now run by me. At first, I never planned on taking over the family business, but today I couldn’t be happier. I’ve met countless wonderful people and experienced things I never could have imagined.

I studied business in university and earned additional qualifications in real estate. But as my father grew older, and as his only child still living in the city, I eventually had to make a choice. I left everything to continue his legacy.

Every year I travel to India, and those journeys have transformed me spiritually and professionally. What I learned in school couldn’t fully prepare me for the realities of working directly with artisans, suppliers, and marketplaces across India. I was nervous at first, but I stayed confident and tried to emulate the grace, determination, and integrity my father showed me as a child. Many years later, I am completely in love with the business and excited for the challenges and opportunities each new trip brings. I’ve now traveled to more than 18 states in India, always searching for new products, partnerships, and experiences.

Each year, I make it my mission to find suppliers who value fair pay, handmade craftsmanship, and animal-cruelty-free practices. My entire family grew up in the store my father built, and thanks to his wisdom and experience, I couldn’t have asked for a better foundation.

All of our products are of superior quality and handcrafted with love.

Dhanyavaad, and thank you for exploring our collection :)
